Young Man Survives Car Accident

My son George has lived in Florida for the last 4 years.  In November of 2007 my sister and I wanted to have a 50th Wedding Anniversary party for our parents.  We were calling it a "Celebration of Life!" Because my dad was in the hospital for 7 months prior to this and they both have had their share of health issues.  So the party was to be on Sunday November 4, 2007, so my son came home on Friday to visit some other friends and family.

On Saturday November 3, 2007 we all gathered at this photo studio in Solon to take a group photo of the grandkids for grandma and grandpa.  My sister has 6 children, and we really never got them all together for a professional group photo.  I have uploaded a couple of those photos. My cell phone was on vibrate because of the photo shoot. After the photo shoot, my son asked the best way to get to Stow from Solon, to go visit his other set of grandparents while he was in town.

I always tell him how blessed he is to have both sets of grandparents still in his live! I told him to head up Route 91 and he was off.  Now mind you it was a beautiful Indian Summer day.  I had gone out to lunch with my sister and her children and a cousin and his wife that were in from Atlanta, Georgia early for the party.

When it came time to pay I realized that my cell phone was still on vibrate - so I grabbed it and it seemed that I had missed a call.  When I went to listen to my message, it went something like this, "  If I have reached to right person I am calling from a terrible accident that your son was in and he is being life flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center.

I tried to calm myself down by thinking he was able to remember my cell phone number.  Then I lost it - My son was 23 years old and although he was involved in every sport  imaginable and a very active, normal boy, he had miracaliously never been in the hospital, emergency room, never broke anything or anything!

My cousin picked up the bill and my sister children and said SHE would drive me to MetroHealth - but I had never been there and didn't know exactly where it was. Once I arrived I waited and waited to see him - it seemed like forever.  Praise God he only had a broken leg, rib and bone on his finger and cheek.  He never made it to the big party the next day.  But Praise God he's still here. And actually we had him in Ohio for the next six months - so that was an added blessing!

Thanks, MetroHealth!
